Lloyd Cohen
It is with heavy hearts that we receive the sad news of the death of fellow hacktionlabber Lloyd Cohen, who died on the 26th August 2009. Lloyd was a supportive member of HacktionLab, whose contribution to the first edition in 2008 was much valued. He worked for several years for Bristol Wireless providing the majority of the current network infrastructure and provided dedicated and indispensable support for Indymedia UK at 2007's Camp for Climate Action at Sipson. Lloyd will be sorely missed by all friends and colleagues that knew him. A Facebook group has been set up in his memory. |
Next Event: HacktionLab 2009/02 An urban hack meeting somewhere in the north of England in Autumn 2009
The aim of HacktionLab is to have a convergence where people interested in and/or working in the areas of alternative media, renewable energy, on-line video distribution, free software and any other form of activism that utilises technology can get together an plan how to better use the technology to support the activist movement. We have had three successful gatherings so far, a rural hack meeting in the Wye Valley in June 2008, an urban one in Leeds in October 2008 and another rural one in June 2009.
