Alternatives to Google Apps

Stop the chocolate factory from slurping your data by using these instead of the google defaults:

  1. DuckDuckGo for Android  - replaces google search
  2. Firefox for Android - replaces stock browser, allows privacy-enhancing plugins
  3. K-9 mail - replaces gmail etc., intergrates well with APG
  4. FDroid - replaces "google play" - catalogue of free software
  5. Replacements for google maps:

             - OsmAnd open street map viewer, GPS tracker, off-line atlas and direction calculator

             - HappyCow VeginOut

             - Bike Hubcycle journey planner

             - OS Atlas "free" access to Ordnance Survey Maps (If you pay UK taxes, you fund the Ordnance Survey, however it is copyright-protected. The application is available in an advert-supported or paid-for version)
