HacktionLab presents "That tech is mine!": a hacktionlab / barnCamp Reunion - featuring discussions on alt-media, radical tech collectives, right to repair, free and open source software, the maker mentality, and the old hacker ethic. Dates - Arriving from evening of Thursday 9th, then on Friday 10th, Saturday 11th, and Sunday 12th June 2022

Main Idea

A reunion of people and ideas that went on at BarnCamps and Hacktionlabs. Friends of Friends welcome as we can let them know the general vibe.

Format

Unconference (with some organising to make sure we have enough sessions). It's a DIY event but there are some roles for coordinating this and that. See HacktionCamp 2022 Roles

Timing, accommodation, Booking

• Arrival from - Thursday 9th June - You can camp till Monday night too if you want to.
• Event Proper starts - Friday 3pm till Sunday 3pm
• Cost: £25 for the workshops and £10 per night for the camping
• Bell tents are available (2) for a cost of £50/night. Get in touch via the list if you're interested.
• Accommodation: A campsite central to Todmorden only 5 mins walk from the Golden Lion

Food: Camp Catering is possible and there are lots of places to eat in Todmorden.

Saturday Late Lunch - 2ish

Gareth will be bringing food for approx 25 : "I expect in true BarnCamp fashion, somehow folks will just appear from 12.30ish to help me heat it up / serve / wash up ..."

Dal and rice with raita & chilli crisps

A spicy but not too hot thick north Indian style dal made with channa dal lentils, onions, garlic, ginger, fresh chillies and various spices inc monosodium glutamate (don't believe the hype)

Topped with chilli crisps, fresh coriander and lemon juice and served with basmati rice.

Accompanied with raita (dairy or vegan) and various chilli sauces for additional hotness as desired.

Please don't ask for naan as refusal often offends.

Ingredients: Chana dal (aka split chickpeas), rice, onions, garlic, ginger, chilli, lemon juice, {dairy || plant} yogurt, cucumber, mint, rhubarb, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, turmeric, fenugreek, Sichuan peppercorns, smoked paprika, mustard seeds, curry leaves, mango powder, sugar, vegetable oil, salt, pepper, monosodium glutamate, Henderson's Relish

"Free Software: A New Hope" - a operatic spectacular about the life of Richard M Stallman, the Obi Wan of the Free Software movement (although I feel he was probably a member of the Sith - RMS that is). (Mike would like to play Larry Wall if possible)
