HacktionLab Autumn 2026
The next HacktionLab gathering is going to be very much like the last one! \o/
Our next gathering will be at the Sumac Centre again in Nottingham, East Midlands, UK from the evening of Thursday 1st October to lunchtime on Sunday 4th October, incorporating two full days of sessions and food provided for just £45. The two main workshop days are Friday 2th and Saturday 3rd October.
HacktionLab is a self-produced event, in the DIY traditions of "Bring what you would expect to find" and "We are all crew". Are you interested in coming and getting involved? Get in touch with us by e-mailing us at hl2026 _at_ hacktionlab _dot_ org. We also recommend you join our mailing list for low-traffic discussions and up-to-date information about our events.
Over the next few months we're going to start trying to put together a programme - now would be a good time to ponder sessions you would like to see or talks you would like to contribute.
We're also interested to hear if you have groups or networks that would like to be involved.
Talks, Activities, and Workshops
We're collecting proposals and ideas for talks, activities and workshops at Workshops for HacktionLab Autumn 2026. If you already have a login for this wiki, please go to that page to add your own proposals, otherwise, why not join and email our mailing list to make a proposal. The final programme will be decided by those present, on Thursday evening and/or Friday over breakfast.
Social Events
For the Friday night we'll be joining in with the monthly Sumac Open Mic a jam-style performance space where all are encouraged to take part, or simply sit back and enjoy. There is a bar at the Sumac serving alcoholic and soft drinks.
For Sunday, and to close the event, we encourage you to stay for the Sumac Sunday Brunch.
Food
Sumac-based Veggie's Catering Campaign will be providing food. The price we're asking you for includes 7 meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner or Friday and Saturday, plus breakfast on Sunday.
Depending on when you're arriving, you may want to bring CASH to pay for:
- Tea, coffee, etc. during the event - this will be self-service, cash only
- Drinks from the bar in the evening (cards also accepted for this)
- Sunday lunch which is £5
The Sumac centre is a vegan space, don't bring any non-vegan food with you.
Cost
The full price is £45 (forty-five pounds), which includes space to sleep on the floor at the venue and seven meals!
If you wish to come for just the Friday or the Saturday daytime and are not staying overnight, then the cost is £20 (twenty pounds) per day. This includes food.
As we are not-for-profit and need to make sure we cover our costs, we ask that you pay the fee in advance by bank transfer at the time of booking. Please get in touch if you need a concession.

Accommodation
You can bunk down on the floor of the Sumac for free; you need to bring a sleeping bag and if you want one, a sleeping mat or airbed. The Sumac is a residential building, so don't expect to be partying late into the night - the bar usually shuts, and music stops, before 10:30PM.
We also have access to another space at a nearby housing co-op.
Promotion

Safer Spaces
We do have a Safe Spaces policy for HacktionLab events. Please do read it and make sure you accept its premises before attending.
Sign-up
In order to cater for the right number of bellies, without waste, we need to know of numbers in advance. And of course there is a limit to the number of people who we can fit into the building. So, please let us know as soon as you are certain that you want to come.
