Production

There is a projector and screen that we can use. The projector has an HDMI input. There is an HDMI cable and a miniDP to HDMI adaptor. There is an analogue audio cable (3.5mm stereo jack) from an output on the projector to a domestic sound system.

Networking: there is a reliable wifi network, however it is configured for a limited number of clients. For this reason it's essential to only register one device per person, and to stick with the same MAC (i.e. you can use a random MAC but stick with the same one for the duration of the event).

There will be a small PA with a powered mixer for the open mic / jam session, which accepts XLR or 1/4" jack inputs.

There are 3 power outlets accessible in the main room. There should be 2 4-way adaptors available but we need to bring more - see https://pad.riseup.net/p/BO6mHyQuMefJgXIu2NPT

We also need to bring flip charts, marker pens, post-its etc.

Welfare

HacktionLab is fully catered. Do not bring any non-vegan food.

The bar will be open in the evenings.

There are male, female and gender-neutral toilets.

Personal hygiene: There are wash-basins in the loos but limited privacy. If you're desperate for a shower, ask one of the friendly local people (in the Sumac).

Shops: there are a few small shops nearby, mostly on Berridge Road, eg. (OSM link).

Access: for those with reduced mobility, there is level access through a back door on Beech Avenue. If your needs are complex, please contact us to discuss how we might meet them before booking.

Sleeping: unless you've made other arrangements, we assume that you'll bring your own bedding and sleep on the floor in the Sumac Centre. There is also an option to sleep in Ned's factory space, if you want to go to bed while people are still talking in the Sumac; however, it's not heated.

Ned's

We have been offered the use of a 2nd space at Ned's Housing Coop (named after Ned Ludd), which is 2 minutes walk from the Sumac. The space is large, with a high ceiling - an old pyclet factory - and is not heated.

No projector / screen, but a flipchart and/or whiteboard will be arranged. Probably best for less tech-reliant sessions.

Network access - to be discussed.

This space can also be used for sleeping, e.g. for people who want to retire early, while there are still conversations going on at Sumac.
